how_to_help02.jpgOur volunteers undertake numerous fundraising activities in order to support the ongoing work of Hope Survivors Foundation. A few of the ways they have helped include:

  • Have a fete: Get all your friends involved and hold a fete in a local hall or community centre. You could have various stalls such as a cake stall, homemade jam, book, art and craft, jewellery and plants. There could also be face painting for the children
  • Dinner party: Cook up a storm in the kitchen and hold a fundraising meal at home. You can sell tickets to those who wish to attend
  • Poetry and music night: Hold a recital for your family, friends and neighbours. You can sing songs, play instruments and recite poetry. Audience members pay an entrance fee
  • Guest speaker: Invite a guest speaker to give a free talk to your social group or in a local hall. Sell admission tickets to raise money. We may be able to help find you a speaker . Please contact us
  • Film show: Spend an afternoon watching your favority films or DVD or video. Everyone pays something to attend. We can arrange for a public viewing of the excellent Shooting Dogs – please contact us
  • Filling a small change money box
  • Participate in the Fun Run

Tips for Fundraising

  1. Set high goals. Think of an amount that would feel like an accomplishment to you. Remember, if you don’t ask, you don’t get.
  2. List your potential donors. These can include family, friends, neighbours, colleagues. Go through your address book. Include your doctor, car mechanic, relatives, former classmates, your child’s teacher, everybody you do business with, your dry cleaner, everyone you talk to at your office, place of workshop, or school.Think about any people who’ve asked you for money for a charity before and put them on the list. Then decide how you will contact each person on your list. Possible options include face to face meeting, an email, a fundraising letter or a fundraising party. Contact the HSF office for advice/resources to use in planning a party or writing a fundraising letter.
  3. Multiply donations by giving additional forms to your family and friends who have already donated. Ask them to talk to people about the event and your participation in it, and help you ask for donations.
